Las diferencias qu\u00edmicas y estructurales de estos polisac\u00e1ridos son de gran utilidad para su utilizaci\u00f3n como caracteres quimiotaxon\u00f3micos que permiten: delimitar g\u00e9neros; establecer grupos dentro de un g\u00e9nero; relacionar anamorfos con sus correspondientes teleomorfos o detectartaxones incorrectamente clasificados por ejemplo penicillium vermoesenii y myrothecium penicillioides. Los anticuerpos producidos frente a estos polisac\u00e1ridos pueden utilizarse para la identificaci\u00f3n de especies o grupos de especies afines mediante t\u00e9cnicas
