El factor transformante del crecimiento (tgf) beta es un regulador bifuncional del crecimiento celular normal y transformado, aunque las c\u00e9lulas tumorales suelen ser menos sensibles a sus efectos inhibitorios. El tumor walker 256 (w256) es un tumor mamario de rata, utilizado como modelo de hth.  nuestros resultados indican que las c\u00e9lulas w256 producen pthrp y tgf beta1, \u00e9ste \u00faltimo de forma inactiva. La pthrp tiene un efecto autocrino sobre el crecimiento de las c\u00e9lulas w256, a trav\u00e9s de un receptor para pth\/pthrp distinto al tipo i clonado en ri\u00f1\u00f3n y hueso. El tgf beta1 tiene un efecto bif\u00e1sico en el crecimiento de las c\u00e9lulas w256, siendo estimulador a tiempos cortos e inhibidor a tiempos largos, posiblemente a trav\u00e9s de un receptor tipo i para tgf beta. El tgf beta1 en las c\u00e9lulas w256 estimula la expresi\u00f3n de pthrp mediante la estabilizaci\u00f3n del transcrito, y su propia expresi\u00f3n mediante un aumento de la transcripci\u00f3n
