El mecanismo por el que el lps ejerce su acci\u00f3n comenzar\u00eda por su uni\u00f3n a la membrana plasm\u00e1tica de las c\u00e9lulas, modificando la uni\u00f3n del acth a sus receptores. La uni\u00f3n de la endotoxina a la membrana, altera la transducci\u00f3n de la se\u00f1al del acth, disminuyendo la formaci\u00f3n de ampc y la esteroidog\u00e9nesis.  en los mecanismos iniciales de la acci\u00f3n endot\u00f3xica, pueden estar implicados la alteraci\u00f3n de la homeostasis del calcio, as\u00ed como la formaci\u00f3n de especies reactivas de ox\u00edgeno. Cuando se tratan las c\u00e9lulas a largo plazo (cinco d\u00edas) con lps, se altera tanto la esteroidog\u00e9nesis estimulada como la basal.
