Sideritis son utilizadas en medicina popular como antiinflamatorios y antiulcerosos.  en este trabajo se ha aislado a partir del extracto hex\u00e1nico de sideritis javalambrensis pau una mezcla de is\u00f3meros diterp\u00e9nicos no descritos en esta especie, el ent-3 &#8211; hidroxi-13-epi-manoil \u00f3xido (ribenol) y el ent-12 -hidroxi-13-epi-manoil \u00f3xido (varol). Se ha estudiado la actividad y el mecanismo de acci\u00f3n antiinflamatorio de esta mezcla, as\u00ed como de un compuesto de naturaleza lip\u00eddica aislado en trabajos anteriores en el que la mol\u00e9cula de glicerina estaba esterificada de forma mayoritaria por el \u00e1cido oleico y el \u00e1cido linoleico, ambos activos como antiinflamatorios en ensayos in vivo por v\u00eda t\u00f3pica. En los ensayos in vitro el compuesto lip\u00eddico act\u00faa como un estabilizador de las membranas celulares. Asimismo, posee actividad inmunomoduladora al inhibir la generaci\u00f3n de no, de la linfoproliferaci\u00f3n asociada probablemente a la disminuci\u00f3n de la il-2 y de la activaci\u00f3n de la v\u00eda cl\u00e1sica del complemento mediante la depleci\u00f3n o captaci\u00f3n de alguno de sus factores.
