Para ello se han obtenido anticuerpos monoclonales frente a diversas moleculas de adhesion, se han purificado moleculas de adhesion y se han empleado una amplia gama de tipos celulares y proteinas quimericas recombinantes. Los resultados presentados y discutidos muestran que las integrinas vla-2 y vla-4 estan involucradas en la induccion de adhesion interleucocitaria y sugieren que este fenomeno podria estar mediado por las propias integrinas las cuales interaccionarian con un ligando presente en la superficie de las celulas el cual no ha sido identificado. Por otra parte, se ha demostrado que la molecula icam-3 es un ligando para la integrina leucocitaria lfa-1.
