La formaci\u00f3n y progresi\u00f3n de la placa aterosclerotica es un proceso en el que intervienen un gran numero de genes inflamatorios y que puede conducir a su rotura con la subsiguiente formacion de un trombo, originando este los eventos isquemicos mas graves. En esta tesis se muestran algunos de los factores que estan implicados en la formaci\u00f3n y desestabilizaci\u00f3n de la lesion ateromatosa como el mcp-i, il-8, pdgf-b, tnf, il-i, colageno i.  tambien analizamos la actividad del factor nuclear kappa b implicado en la regulaci\u00f3n de algunos de los factores anteriormente mencionados, en un modelo de aterosclerosis experimental en conejo.  hemos utilizado dos farmacos distintos que bloquean dos rutas muy distintas; por un lado la ruta de formaci\u00f3n de la angiotensina, donde utilizamos un inhibidor de la enzima de conversion de la angiotensina (eca) y analizamos su contribucion a esta patolog\u00eda. Por otro lado bloqueamos la principal enzima implicada en la ruta de biosintesis del colesterol, la hmg-coa reductasa, comprobando la influencia de los altos niveles de lipidos sobre la expresion de genes pro-inflamatorios.
