La mutaci\u00f3n responsable del fenotipo es el cambio de la g 1228 por una a en el gen cdc15.  los mutantes en el gen cdc15 presentan una p\u00e9rdida del patr\u00f3n axial de polaridad, t\u00edpico de las estirpes haploides de este organismo, desplaz\u00e1ndose la nueva gemaci\u00f3n hacia el polo distal de la c\u00e9lula hija, lugar por el que tiene lugar la lisis. Adem\u00e1s muestran incapacidad para localizar el citoesqueleto de actina en la zona del septo, lo que les imposibilita realizar este proceso.  disponemos de resultados que indican que los mutantes en el gen cdc15 superan la parada del ciclo celular para ellos descrita, en la anafase mit\u00f3tica, mostrando un significativo retraso en el ciclo celular. Estos resultados parecen indicar que el retraso en el ciclo celular observado es la manifestaci\u00f3n de la presencia de un control del ciclo celular o \u00abcheckpoint\u00bb, el cual, se activar\u00eda en presencia de anomal\u00edas en el proceso de septaci\u00f3n.
