Las deficiencias hereditarias de estas enzimas se encuentran entre los s\u00edndromes gen\u00e9ticos m\u00e1s frecuentes en el hombre, por lo que actualmente se dedica un gran esfuerzo al estudio de las mismas. Por otra parte, la capacidad de muchas glicosidasas de formar enlaces glicos\u00eddicos por transglicosidaci\u00f3n, hace que el inter\u00e9s por estas enzimas se extienda tambi\u00e9n a la s\u00edntesis de carbohidratos. El trabajo que se presenta en esta tesis est\u00e1 orientado al estudio de las glicosidasas desde dos puntos de vista. Por un lado, se ha estudiado la aplicaci\u00f3n de algunas b-gluco y b-galactosidasas a la s\u00edntesis regio y estereoespec\u00edfica de disac\u00e1ridos del tipo b-d-galactosil-xilopiran\u00f3sidos. Estos compuestos son an\u00e1logos de sustrato de la lactasa intestinal, y son potencialmente \u00fatiles en el diagn\u00f3stico de la enfermedad resultante de la deficiencia de esta enzima. Por otro lado, mediante la aplicaci\u00f3n de t\u00e9cnicas de rmn y c\u00e1lculos de mec\u00e1nica molecular se ha estudiado la conformaci\u00f3n que adoptan diversos inhibidores y sustratos en el centro activo de algunas glicosidasas.  la informaci\u00f3n obtenida de estos estudios es \u00fatil para conocer el mecanismo catal\u00edtico de estas enzimas y para el dise\u00f1o de inhibidores y
