Se constituyeron cuatro grupos de personas, tres de ellos pacientes quirurgicos (tipo asa-1 y asa-2) y uno de voluntarios sanos, de 18, 18, 24 y 12 sujetos respectivamente. El primer grupo fue sometido a una inducci\u00f3n con unico bolo i.V. De propofol, en estos enfermos se redujo significativamente la peroxidaci\u00f3n lipidica y se incremento el contenido de glutati\u00f3n. En el segundo grupo la inducci\u00f3n anestesica se realiz\u00f3 con tiopental sodico, no encontrandose modificaci\u00f3n alguna en los parametros de estatus oxidativo. En el tercer grupo se practic\u00f3 una inducci\u00f3n con un bolo de propofol, seguido de una infusi\u00f3n continua; a la hora de iniciar la infusi\u00f3n se mantuvieron los par\u00e1metros del efecto antioxidante de propofol, asi como un incremento en la producci\u00f3n de oxido nitrico, el cual se correlacion\u00f3 positivamente con las bajadas observadas en la tension arterial. En el cuarto grupo se realizo una administraci\u00f3n de intralipid, disolvente del propofol a voluntarios sanos; no se observaban diferencias significativas. Conclusi\u00f3n:  propofol es un farmaco antioxidante en el ser humano e incrementa producci\u00f3n de oxido nitrico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
