Se corrobor\u00f3 la naturaleza ser\u00edn-esterasa de ache por el marcado del centro activo con el organofosforado (3h)-diisopropilfluorofosfato. Adem\u00e1s, se comprob\u00f3 que de los 5 sitios potenciales de n-glicosilaci\u00f3n de la ache de sfb, cuatro al menos est\u00e1n glicosilados.  se demostr\u00f3 que tanto las interacciones hidrof\u00f3bicas como los enlaces disulfuro intervienen en la asociaci\u00f3n de las subunidades que componen los tetr\u00e1meros de ache. La transformaci\u00f3n de las formas g4s hidrof\u00edlicas en mol\u00e9culas g2 y g1 anfif\u00edlicas sugiri\u00f3 que el car\u00e1cter anfif\u00edlico de la subunidad de ache deriva de alguna regi\u00f3n polipept\u00eddica hidrof\u00f3bica, y no de un glicol\u00edpido o un \u00e1cido graso unidos a la prote\u00edna. Se realizaron estudios estructurales, demostr\u00e1ndose que la subunidad de ache posee una conformaci\u00f3n muy flexible, que puede ser fundamental para generar la serie completa de formas moleculares. Particularmente interesante fue la identificaci\u00f3n de un estado de \u00abgl\u00f3bulo fundido\u00bb, que podr\u00eda representar un intermedio com\u00fan para distintas alternativas de plegamiento.  por otro lado, se estableci\u00f3 que el ep\u00edtopo para el anticuerpo ae-1, generado contra la ache de eritrocito humano, consiste en un dominio conformacional de la enzima.
