El c\u00e1ncer de mama afecta a 70 mujeres sobre 1.000 y 30 de ellas morir\u00e1n por su causa. A pesar de la elevada incidencia del c\u00e1ncer de mama, existe gran cantidad de patolog\u00eda benigna que afecta a la gl\u00e1ndula mamaria, el 75 % de todas las masas mamarias son benignas. Del elevado porcentaje de patolog\u00eda benigna en la mama se desprende la importancia del correcto diagn\u00f3stico diferencial entre malignidad y benignidad.  las exploraciones realizadas para la detecci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer de mama incluyen, habitualmente y como m\u00e9todos no invasivos, la exploraci\u00f3n f\u00edsica y la mamograf\u00eda. Ambos m\u00e9todos tiene sus limitaciones: la sensibilidad de la exploraci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica, oscila entre el 55-79 %; en cambio, la sensibilidad de la mamograf\u00eda es elevada pero su valor predictivo positivo es bajo (20-30%). La gammagraf\u00eda mamaria con mibi tc99m ha mostrado, en la detecci\u00f3n del carcinoma de mama, una alta sensibilidad (hasta un 95,8%) con un alto valor predictivo negativo (97 %). Por tanto, aumentar\u00eda la sensibilidad y la especificidad de la mamograf\u00eda en el diagn\u00f3stico diferencial entre lesiones benignas y malignas, evitando un n\u00famero importante de biopsias negativas resultantes de una indicaci\u00f3n mamogr\u00e1fica inexacta. Tambi\u00e9n se ha descrito su posible utilidad en la detecci\u00f3n de afectaci\u00f3n ganglionar axilar previa a la cirug\u00eda.  material y m\u00e9todo: se estudian 201 pacientes procedentes de la unidad de patolog\u00eda mamaria del hospital virgen de la arrixaca de murcia.  resultados y conclusiones: la gammagraf\u00eda mamaria con mibi tc99m es una t\u00e9cnica diagn\u00f3stica con una elevada sensibilidad (90%) y especificidad (90%) en la detecci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer de mama.
