Se demuestra en la primera que el an\u00e1lisis de buen n\u00famero de metales en suelos y sedimentos puede efectuarse mediante espectrometr\u00eda de absorci\u00f3n at\u00f3mica (aas) sin necesidad de la previa puesta en disoluci\u00f3n de la muestra. Se emplea la metodolog\u00eda de suspensiones (slurries) y se describen procedimientos para la determinaci\u00f3n de hierro, calcio, magnesio, plomo, cadmio, talio, selenio, ars\u00e9nico, antimonio, mercurio, cobre, cobalto y n\u00edquel basados en la suspensi\u00f3n directa en disoluciones de \u00e1cido fluorh\u00eddrico. Los procedimientos que emplean atomizaci\u00f3n electrot\u00e9rmica pueden automatizarse mediante un nuevo sistema basado en el empleo de burbujas de gas que mantienen estables las suspensiones en el automuestreador. Por otra parte se describen nuevas alternativas al empleo convencional de la espectrometr\u00eda de absorci\u00f3n at\u00f3mica en llama (faas), proponi\u00e9ndose un dispositivo, totalmente gobernado por ordenador, que permite la calibraci\u00f3n con una sola disoluci\u00f3n est\u00e1ndar as\u00ed como la diluci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica de disoluciones demasiado concentradas para ser medidas por aspiraci\u00f3n directa. Se aporta asimismo un estudio sobre el empleo de la transformaci\u00f3n de fourier en faas para el caso de que la disoluci\u00f3n a medir sea impulsada mediante una bomba perist\u00e1ltica.
