En el presente trabajo se caracteriza experimentalmente, a escala de laboratorio, la paja de ca\u00f1a de az\u00facar (compuesta por las vainas y las hojas secas) como materia prima para la generaci\u00f3n de biog\u00e1s por digesti\u00f3n anaerobia. Durante dicha experimentaci\u00f3n se obtuvo que la mayor producci\u00f3n de biog\u00e1s (237 (ml\/g s.T. X d)) se alcanz\u00f3 para un tiempo de retenci\u00f3n de 20 d\u00edas con una concentraci\u00f3n del 9% de s\u00f3lidos totales. Asimismo, se demostr\u00f3 que a medida que aumenta el tama\u00f1o de part\u00edcula disminuye la generaci\u00f3n de gas, aunque en el rango de tama\u00f1os de part\u00edculas estudiados esta
