Esta alteraci\u00f3n, que se puede detectar por una alteraci\u00f3n en los tiempos de coagulaci\u00f3n, se ha relacionado con la presencia de una mutaci\u00f3n en el gen del factor v de la coagulaci\u00f3n (factor v leiden). Hemos analizado la importancia que esta mutaci\u00f3n tiene en nuestro medio. Los resultados obtenidos han puesto de manifiesto que el factor v leiden se encuentra de una forma significativamente mayor dentro de los sujetos con patolog\u00eda tromb\u00f3tica (14%) que dentro de la poblaci\u00f3n sana (3%). La presencia del factor v leiden determina un incremento del riesgo tromb\u00f3tico estimado en 4,35 para los sujetos heterocigotos y de 40 veces para los sujetos homocigotos. Los sujetos portadores tienden a presentar su primer episodio tromb\u00f3tico en la tercera-cuarta d\u00e9cada.
