La patogenia de este trastorno es desconocida, pero se han implicado en ella alteraciones de la hormona de crecimiento (gh) y factor de crecimiento \u00abinsulin-like\u00bb-i (igf-i). Utilizando un modelo experimental propio de amc en ratas j\u00f3venes, se estudi\u00f3 la expresi\u00f3n de los genes hep\u00e1ticos del igf-i y del receptor de la gh (gh-r) y se midieron las concentraciones s\u00e9ricas de la prote\u00edna transportadora de la gh (ghbp) y del igf-i.  la mayor parte de las alteraciones en el crecimiento y en el eje gh-igf-i en los animales acid\u00f3ticos fueron parcialmente dependientes del d\u00e9ficit nutricional, pero existieron descensos espec\u00edficos del transcripto de 7,5 kb del igf-i y del igf-i s\u00e9rico asociados a la amc.
