Se estructura en dos partes, una hist\u00f3rica y otra sistem\u00e1tica. La primera trata la educaci\u00f3n musical en la corte, con el modelo te\u00f3rico de educaci\u00f3n de pr\u00edncipes. La ense\u00f1anza musical de felipe iii, felipe iv y carlos ii, y en la nobleza. Se exponen modelos educativos, tipos de maestros privados de m\u00fasica y danza. Educaci\u00f3n musical de la mujer, difusi\u00f3n de la ense\u00f1anza musical, y su presencia en saraos y tertulias. La segunda parte abarca un cat\u00e1logo cronol\u00f3gico de tratados de teor\u00eda musical, conservados o no conservados, y un an\u00e1lisis de estilo en la teor\u00eda musical espa\u00f1ola del xvii, valorando el lenguaje, relaci\u00f3n autor &#8211; lector, relaci\u00f3n forma &#8211; contenido, el uso por parte de los lectores, y la personalidad de los autores a trav\u00e9s de sus estilos. La tesis finaliza con un estudio de las maralidades en la tratad\u00edstica, y una revisi\u00f3n de la historiograf\u00eda musical espa\u00f1ola.  de todo ello se extraen las oportunas
