En una primera parte se introducen las bases de mec\u00e1nica estad\u00edstica y teor\u00edas de funcionales de la densidad necesarias. Despu\u00e9s se propone un nuevo funcional, la aproximaci\u00f3n de la funci\u00f3n generadora. Con el fin de evaluar la capacidad del nuevo funcional se estudia el l\u00edmite homog\u00e9neo del fluido a que da lugar en sus diversas versiones. Tambi\u00e9n se estudian los l\u00edmites de menor dimensi\u00f3n, as\u00ed como las versiones de la teor\u00eda en dimensiones menores de tres.  por \u00faltimo, el funcional es probado en varios problemas t\u00edpicos de fluidos inhomog\u00e9neos. Como segunda parte se estudia el problema del fluido de esferas duras confinado en una cavidad esf\u00e9rica mediante la teor\u00eda de mediadas fundamentales, tanto con la teor\u00eda original como las versiones mejoradas posteriores. Para poder comporar con resultados can\u00f3nicos se utiliza una serie en potencias del inverso del n\u00famero de part\u00edculas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
