En este trabajo se han aislado y caracterizado varios genes implicados en s\u00edntesis de carotenoides en synechocystis sp. Pcc6803. As\u00ed, se ha identificado una mutaci\u00f3n puntual en una orf de synechocystis que provoca resistencia a dos inhibidores de la enzima ciclasa de licopeno. Esta orf codifica una prote\u00edna de funci\u00f3n desconocida pero que parece esencial y que posee un sitio de uni\u00f3n a nucle\u00f3tidos similar al presente en la ciclasa de licopeno de otra cianobacteria.  tambi\u00e9n se han localizado los inicios de la transcripci\u00f3n de los genes crtp y crtb de synechocystis y se ha establecido que la expresi\u00f3n de ambos est\u00e1 afectada por la intensidad de luz, habi\u00e9ndose identificado secuencias en los dos genes posiblemente implicadas en este efecto.  adem\u00e1s se ha establecido que la orf slr0088 de synechocystis es el gen de la cetolasa de b-caroteno y que esta prote\u00edna difiere de las previamente caracterizadas usando b-caroteno como sustrato preferente y no equinenona.
