En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os las topoisomerasas de adn han adquirido mayor importancia puesto que se ha descubierto que son el blanco celular de una serie de f\u00e1rmacos ampliamente utilizados en terapia antitumoral conocidos como venenos de topoisomerasas.  desgraciadamente, cuando estas drogas se utilizan como agentes quimioterape\u00faticos generalmente llevan asociados una serie de efectos secundarios indeseables en el individuo, de manera que el desarrollo de protocolos experimentales que permitan potenciar la efectividad de los venenos de topoisomerasas, evitando el uso de altas concentraciones de estas drogas, se presenta como cl\u00ednicamente interesante.  en este trabajo experimental hemos potenciado la capacidad del veneno de latopoisomerasa de adn de tipo i (topo i) camptotecina y del veneno de latopoisomerasa de adn de tipo ii (topo ii) amsacrina para inducir muerte celular tanto apopt\u00f3tica como mit\u00f3tica mediante dos estrategias: una de ellas consisti\u00f3 en la activaci\u00f3n prematura de ciertos replicones mediante la utilizaci\u00f3n del agente hipometilante 5-azacitidina.
