En esta tesis se estudia la regulacion por la hormona tiroidea de rc3\/neurogranina, un gen de expresion cerebral, cuyos niveles se encuentran disminuidos en el hipotiroidismo inducido en ratas. En la corteza cerebral y el nucleo estriado de ratas hipotiroideas, se produce una disminucion de un 50-70% en los niveles tanto del mrna como de la proteina rc3. Este efecto es especifico, ya que la expresion de otros mrnas, no se ve alterada.  estados asociados al hipotiroidismo tampoco afectan a la expresion de rc3. El estudio molecular de la expresion de rc3, demuestra la presencia de un elemento de respuesta a acido retinoico en la region promotora del gen. Este elemento es capaz de unir receptores de retinoides, y de estimular la transcripcion en respuesta a acido retinoico. Los resultados obtenidos sugieren la posibilidad de la accion de la hormona tiroidea a traves de elemento rc3rare.
