Se ha mostrado que, al igual que en guisante, existe una correlaci\u00f3n entre un nivel alto de espermina y la presenescencia de los ovarios de tomate, y un nivel bajo y el desarrollo del fruto inducido por auxinas y giberelinas. Adem\u00e1s, se ha mostrado la presencia de la actividad arginasa en ovarios de tomate, y su actividad se regula dirigiendo el metabolismo de nitrogeno hacia la s\u00edntesis de arg.  durante el desarrollo del fruto. Se ha visto que las actividades espermidina sintasa y espermina sintasa est\u00e1n presentes en ovarios y frutos j\u00f3venes de guisante, y son responsables del aumento de la cantidad total de ambas pas tras la inducci\u00f3n de la fructificaci\u00f3n por tratamiento con giberelinas. Hemos aislado un cdna de la odc de tomate, y dos cdnas de espermidina sintasa de guisante y uno de tomate.
