La presencia de sacarosa y glucosa en el medio provocan un aumento de la tolerancia a la congelacion.  otros resultados obtenidos indican que el mensajero de la alcohol deshidrogenasa, de la fenil alanina amonio liasa y de la chalcona sintetasa se acumulan transitoriamente por exposicion a temperaturas bajas, mediante una via de transmision de se\u00f1ales donde participa el acido abscisico. En el caso de la fenil alanina amonio liasa, hemos demostrado que la acumulacion se regula a nivel transcripcional y va acompa\u00f1ada de un cambio en el patron de expresion tisular. Mediante el analisis de mutantes se ha observado que la funcion de estos genes no es necesaria para desarrollar tolerancia a la congelacion.  por ultimo, se han clonado y caracterizado dos genes de arabidopsis que codifican para proteinas homologas a reguladores de proteinas quinasas.
