Se ha demostrado que el inhibidor ump se entrecruza a la lisina 992, y que el activador imp se une tambi\u00e9n al dominio c-terminal de 20 kda de la subunidad mayor, fotomarcando la histidina 994. La sustituci\u00f3n de esta histidina por alanina previene el fotomarcado por imp pero no por ump, y afecta selectivamente a la regulaci\u00f3n del enzima por ambos efectores. Tambi\u00e9n se ha insertado en la regi\u00f3n reguladora del enzima de e.Coli un lugar de fosforilaci\u00f3n para prote\u00edna quinasa a, que se encuentra en la carbamilfosfato sintetasa ii, pero este cambio no ha resultado en la fosforilaci\u00f3n por la quinasa del enzima de e.Coli modificado as\u00ed, ni ha afectado sus propiedades reguladoras.
