La implicaci\u00f3n de los genes inducibles por etileno (eig) durante la maduraci\u00f3n natural, estres h\u00eddrico\/rehidrataci\u00f3n, estres salino y fr\u00edo, sugiere la implicaci\u00f3n del etileno en estos procesos.  se ha clonado y caracterizado en citrus un gen del tipo \u00absensor de etileno ers\u00bb. La modulaci\u00f3n de los niveles de cers por factores del desarrollo puede dar cuenta del incremento observado en la expresi\u00f3n de genes regulados por esta hormona durante la maduraci\u00f3n del fruto.  se ha aislado y caracterizado el gen hnl inducible por etileno. Se presentan datos que apoyan que la prote\u00edna codificada por este gen no presenta actividad hnl. La presencia de un dominio esterasa sugiere que \u00e9sta puede ser su funci\u00f3n.
