Es menos potente frente a pla2 de abeja y de exudado de bolsa de rata. Variabilina interfiere con la activaci\u00f3n leucocitaria (pmn): actividad elastasa, generaci\u00f3n de super\u00f3xido y s\u00edntesis de ltb4, sin embargo no es activa frente a 5-lipoxigenasa ni ciclooxigenasa 1 y 2. Variabilina aplicada t\u00f3picamente reduce el edema en oreja inducido por tpa, pero no el causado por \u00e1cido araquid\u00f3nico. Por v\u00eda oral inhibe el edema plantar inducido por carragenina. En el modelo de bolsa de aire estimulada por zimosan, variabilina administrada intrabolsa a dosis de 0,01-lumoles\/ bolsa, no afecta la migraci\u00f3n pero reduce los niveles de pge2 y ltb4.
