El metodo comprende el calculo de correcciones de 2 orden a los resultados obtenidos dentro de la aproximacion hartreefock. El espectro de las cuasiparticulas se obtiene a partir de un calculo de la autoenergia compleja y que supone la correccion a los resultados que implica el teorema de koopmans. El metodo aunque conceptualmente es un procedimiento realizado en espacio real, permite el calculo del espectro de las cuasiparticulas en sistemas infinitos. Las bandas de Valencia, las bandas de conduccion de energias mas bajas, asi como el gap en sistemas como germanio y silicio cristalinos, estan buen acuerdo con los datos espectroscopicos.
