El trabajo presentado en esta tesis consiste en la identificaci\u00f3n y caracterizaci\u00f3n del gen msn5 de s.C. Este gen fu\u00e9 clonado inicialmente como un supresor en multicopia de mutaciones termosensibles en el gen snf1 que codifica una quinasa esencial para una correcta regulaci\u00f3n de la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica en funci\u00f3n de la concentraci\u00f3n de glucosa en el medio. Msn5 codifica una proteina de 1223 amino\u00e1cidos con una expresi\u00f3n elevada y aproximadamente constante en todas las condiciones estudiadas. Aunque el gen msn5 no es esencial para el crecimiento en condiciones \u00f3ptimas de la levadura, s\u00ed es necesario para el correcto funcionamiento de las rutas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n que deben activarse en respuesta a algunas circunstancias: frente al estr\u00e9s producido por la ausencia de fuente de carbono, altas concentraciones de ca2+,na+, li+,mn2+,oh-, o altas y bajas temperaturas, y frente a la presencia de feromonas sexuales en el medio.  diversas interacciones gen\u00e9ticas tambi\u00e9n sugieren que msn5 puede intervenir en la regulaci\u00f3n del ciclo celular.  estos
