La insercion inactivante tanto de la orfa como de la orfb del gen aba a origino un fenotipo no productor de antibioticos. Es acoplante solo la deleccion simultanea de las orf, a y b condujo a un fenotipo no productor de actinorhodina, prodigiosina y cda, sin afectar la sintesis de metilenomicina. La produccion fue restaurada por el aba a, asi como por los genes afs r y act ii-orf4. El gen redd solo recupero la sintesis de prodigiosina. Los analisis de transcripcion en el mutante revelaron que el gen redd tenia disminuidos sus niveles de mrna. Los genes afsr y actii-orf4 no aparecieron estar afectados en su transcripcion. La secuenciacion del extremo derecho del grupo de genes act revelo la presencia de dos orf, la orf10 perteneciente a la familia lysr y la oreii, cuyo producto genico es similar a la proteina
