Estas pel\u00edculas han sido caracterizadas espectroscopicamente por medio de absorci\u00f3n ultravioleta-visible, fluorescencia de estado estacionario, espectroscopia infrarroja y raman. Se han observado fen\u00f3menos de agregaci\u00f3n molecular y de formaci\u00f3n de excimeros en dichas pel\u00edculas delgadas. La orientaci\u00f3n molecular promedio y la estructura de las pel\u00edculas de los cromoforos han sido inferidas por medio de t\u00e9cnicas de transmisi\u00f3n y reflexi\u00f3n-absorci\u00f3n en el infrarrojo. La espectroscopia electr\u00f3nica revel\u00f3 la naturaleza del empaquetamiento de los materiales.  c\u00e1lculos mec\u00e1nico-cu\u00e1nticos semiemp\u00edricos ayudaron en la asignaci\u00f3n de las geometr\u00edas moleculares, estados electr\u00f3nicos y vibracionales de las mol\u00e9culas. La espectroscopia vibracional amplificada en superficie se utiliz\u00f3 como una t\u00e9cnica anal\u00edtica para caracterizar los espectros de estos hidrocarburos arom\u00e1ticos polic\u00edclicos y para disminuir la emisi\u00f3n remanente por fluorescencia.  se presentan contribuciones importantes al desarrollo de la t\u00e9cnica de espectroscopia infrarroja amplificada en superficie.
