Estas enzimas est\u00e1n, en muchos casos, codificadas por pl\u00e1smidos, lo que facilita la difusi\u00f3n de la resistencia de unas cepas a otras, provocando un grave problema sobre todo a nivel hospitalario. Por esta raz\u00f3n, es fundamental la detecci\u00f3n y diseminaci\u00f3n adem\u00e1s de establecer un control epidemiol\u00f3gico efectivo de las mismas. Persiguiendo esta finalidad, y haciendo uso de las nuevas metodolog\u00edas de biolog\u00eda molecular y de la t\u00e9cnica de la pcr, se estudi\u00f3 la posibilidad de estandarizaci\u00f3n de un protocolo sencillo de detecci\u00f3n y caracterizaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de beta-lactamasas de espectro ampliado tem y shv, por ser \u00e9stas las m\u00e1s frecuentes en esta familia bacteriana. Partiendo de un estudio de la preValencia de la resistencia a cefotaxima en espa\u00f1a durante un per\u00edodo de dos meses en 1994, se plante\u00f3 como objetivo detectar y caracterizar beta-lactamasas de espectro ampliado tem y shv-derivadas en muestras de enterobacterias mediante la utilizaci\u00f3n de t\u00e9cnicas de biolog\u00eda molecular. Previamente se seleccion\u00f3 de un total de 3824 aislamientos de enterobacterias, un grupo de 71 con p\u00e9rdida de sensibilidad o resistencia a cefotaxima (cmi 1ug\/ml). Se obtuvieron sondas intrag\u00e9nicas tem y shv y se detect\u00f3 la presencia de los genes blatem en 12 71 cepas seleccionadas y blashv en 15 de las 71 ceas seleccionadas. Se caracterizaron las beta-lactamasas tem mediante la t\u00e9cnica del oligotipado (beta-lactamas tem-1:8 cepas; beta-lactamasa tem-2:2 cepas; beta-lactamasa tem-4: 1
