Pilar <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os ha habido un inter\u00e9s creciente por la t\u00e9cnica de almacenamiento hologr\u00e1fico de datos, dando lugar a que grupos como el de ibm, almaden research center (donde se enmarca la realizaci\u00f3n de esta tesis) hayan retomado su investigaci\u00f3n.  el inter\u00e9s por esta nueva tecnolog\u00eda radica en su potencial para proporcionar altas velocidades de acceso y capacidades de almacenamiento enormes. Sin embargo, las capacidades que es est\u00e1n obteniendo en la pr\u00e1ctica distan mucho de alcanzar el l\u00edmite te\u00f3rico (tbites\/cm3).  en este trabajo de doctorado se ha identificado los principales factores limitantes de la capacidad de un sistema de almacenamiento hologr\u00e1fico y se ha investigado qu\u00e9 es necesario implementar en el sistema para optimizar dicha capacidad en los dos procesos de la t\u00e9cnica: el proceso de escritura y el proceso de lectura.  en el proceso de escritura, se analiza el problema de la finitud del rango din\u00e1mico cuando se utilizan materiales fotorrefractivos, abordando de una manera num\u00e9rica los problemas de difracci\u00f3n creados por las m\u00e1scaras de fase convencionales y proponiendo e implementando un nuevo dise\u00f1o de m\u00e1scara de fase (m.-P. Bernal y otros, u.S.  patent (1998)).  en lo que respecta al proceso de lectura, se estudian las principales fuentes de ruido que limitan las densidades superficiales.
