Por un lado, el estudio de las dimensiones de las fibras de cromatina ha demostrado que \u00e9stas se colocan verticalmente en la rejilla del microscopio electr\u00f3nico.  la obsercaci\u00f3n ampliada de los fragmentos platinados rotatoriamente y de los fragmentos te\u00f1idos con acetato de uranilo muestra la presencia de elementos estructurales que denotan una distribuci\u00f3n radial de los nucleosomas en la fibra. Por otra parte, se ha llevado a cabo una desnaturalizaci\u00f3n parcial de fibras de cromatinaplegadas.  las estructuras deformadas muestran, una vez m\u00e1s, la distribuci\u00f3n radial de los nucleosomas en la fibra.  finalmente, se ha construido un modelo generado por ordenador formado por h\u00e9lices compactas con pocos nucleosomas por vuelta. La interdigitaci\u00f3n de los nucleosomas de las vueltas de h\u00e9lice consecutivas permite obtener toda una familia de estructuras con 36 nm. De di\u00e1metro y 13-14 nucleosomas por cada 11 nm. El radio de giro de estas estructuras es de aproximadamente 12 nm.  este valor est\u00e1 en concordancia con los obtenidos recientemente en otros laboratorios para fibras de cromatina
