La sobreexpresi\u00f3n de la gk en h\u00edgado di\u00f3 lugar a un incremento en la captaci\u00f3n y utilizaci\u00f3n de la glucosa.  estos cambios en el metabolismo hep\u00e1tico de la glucosa conduc\u00eda a una marcada reducci\u00f3n en la glucemia e insulinemia. Sin embargo, la sobreexpresi\u00f3n a largo t\u00e9rmino de elevados niveles de gk pod\u00eda llevar a la aparici\u00f3n de resistencia a la insulina. Tambi\u00e9n se observ\u00f3 una normalizaci\u00f3n en las alteraciones diab\u00e9ticas al inducir diabetes experimental en estos animales. Por otro lado, se generaron ratones transg\u00e9nicos que expresaban gk en m\u00fasculo esquel\u00e9tico bajo el control de la cadena ligera de la miosina (mlc). Se observ\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n un incremento en la captaci\u00f3n y utilizaci\u00f3n de la glucosa en el m\u00fasculo, as\u00ed como una disminuci\u00f3n en la glucemia despu\u00e9s de inducir un proceso diab\u00e9tico. Todos estos resultados demostraban la importancia de la gk en el metabolismo glucidilo as\u00ed como su utilizaci\u00f3n como una aproximaci\u00f3n \u00fatil para la terapia g\u00e9nica de la
