La gk est\u00e1 considerada como el \u00absensor de glucosa\u00bb que relaciona los niveles de glucosa circulante con la producci\u00f3n de insulina. Para estudiar la implicaci\u00f3n de la gk en la regulaci\u00f3n de este proceso, se generaron ratones transg\u00e9nicos que sobreexpresaban la gk bajo el control del promotor de insulina, estos ratones presentaban un fenotipo inesperado, que iba desde desarrollo de diabetes severa y muerte post-natal hasta hipoglucemia en la l\u00ednea con un menor n\u00famero de copias de transg\u00e9n. La histopatolog\u00eda del p\u00e1ncreas revel\u00f3 que los transg\u00e9nicos presentaban una disminuci\u00f3n en el n\u00famero y el tama\u00f1o de los islotes, as\u00ed como una desestructuraci\u00f3n de los mismos. Estudios realizados con islotes aislados de la l\u00ednea con un menor n\u00famero de copias indicaban que hab\u00eda un incremento en la actividad glucoquinasa, en la utilizaci\u00f3n de glucosa y en la secreci\u00f3n de insulina.  estos animales indican que la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de gk puede comportar alteraciones en el desarrollo del p\u00e1ncreas endocrino.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
