Se ha intentado mejorar la s\u00edntesis.  el paso clave es una reacci\u00f3n de fotocicloadici\u00f3n (2+2) entre la 4-metil-5 pivaloiloximetil-2(5h)-furanona a etileno, para aumentar la baja diastereoselectividad facial obtenida, hemos realizado un estudio fotoqu\u00edmico completo variando los sustituyentes de la 2(5h)- furanona para aumentar los efectos electr\u00f3nicos y hemos utilizado algunos m\u00e1s voluminosos (carbonato de vinico 2,2-dimetil-1,3-dioxol). Para incrementar los efectos est\u00e9ricos. Una vez obtenidos los correspondientes fotocicloaductos, se han llevado a cabo las transformaciones qu\u00edmicas necesarias para obtener el (+)-grandisol.
