As\u00ed, se ha ensayado la reactividad de estos ligandos frente a diferentes sales met\u00e1licas de zn(ii), cd(ii), hg(ii) y co(ii), principalmente haluros de estos metales, obteni\u00e9ndose alrededor de 60 complejos. Los aductos formados por haluros de estos metales y \u00e9steres del \u00e1cido picol\u00ednico responden a las f\u00f3rmulas (mx2l) y (mx2l2). La obtenci\u00f3n de una u otra depende de las condiciones experimentales, excepto en el caso en que m=hg(ii) en donde siempre se obtienen aductos (hgx2l). Las t\u00e9cnicas espectrosc\u00f3picas han permitido determinar que se trata de complejos en los cuales los \u00e1tomos de hal\u00f3geno est\u00e1n directamente enlazados al metal y que los \u00e9steres del \u00e1cido picol\u00ednico actuan de forma quelatante via n, o. Por otra parte la abundante informaci\u00f3n estructural permite afirmar que los adductos de estequiometr\u00eda (mx2l2) presentan una estructura monom\u00e9rica con una geometr\u00eda octa\u00e9drica distorsionada alrededor del metal y con los \u00e1tomos de hal\u00f3geno en disposici\u00f3n cis. Por otra parte los de estequiometr\u00eda (hgx2l) presentan una mayor diversidad estructural siendo desde d\u00edmeros hasta pol\u00edmeros en funci\u00f3n de las interacciones hg&#8230;X que se forman.  asimismo se han realizado una serie de c\u00e1lculos te\u00f3ricos sobre la flexibilidad coordinativa del zn, un estudio de rmn de 113cd en estado s\u00f3lido y un estudio de las propiedades
