Se clasifican en cuatro subfamilias de acuerdo a la posici\u00f3n relativa de sus dos primeras ciste\u00ednas: cxc o alfa, cc o beta, c o gamma y cx3c o delta. La expresi\u00f3n de estas prote\u00ednas se encuentra aumentada en diversas situaciones definidas por infiltraciones linfoc\u00edticas. Por su parte, las enfermedades autoinmunitarias se caracterizan por un reclutamiento de monocitos y de diversos subtipos de linfocitos a los sitios de inflamaci\u00f3n. Esta migraci\u00f3n parece estar regulada por se\u00f1ales quimiot\u00e1cticas producidas localmente, tales como las quimiocinas.  el prop\u00f3sito de este trabajo ha sido el estudio de las quimiocinas beta en gl\u00e1ndulas tiroideas de pacientes afectados por enfermedades tiroideas autoinmunitarias (aitd): 1) b\u00fasqueda de nuevas quimiocinas que pudieran expresarse en gl\u00e1ndulas infiltradas por leucocitos y 2) la determinaci\u00f3n del perfil de expresi\u00f3n de distintos miembros de esta subfamilia. Para lograr estos objetivos se emplearon t\u00e9cnicas de pcr con iniciadores de secuencia degenerada dirigidos a secuencias conservadas entre estas citocinas.  entre los resultados se encuentran dos nuevas mutaciones puntuales: 1) t230 a c, (silente) en el gene mcp-1, detectada en una muestra tiroidea de un paciente con la enfermedad de graves, 2) g159 a t, en el gene rantes, que ocasionar\u00eda a nivel proteico el cambio ala45 a ser, detectada en un clon de c\u00e9lulas t obtenido de otro tiroides con graves.  entre los resultados tambi\u00e9n se encuentra una nueva variante truncada de mip-1beta cuyo adnc presenta una delecci\u00f3n de los primeros 15 pb del ex\u00f3n 3. La delecci\u00f3n de los cinco amino\u00e1cidos correspondientes, desde phe65 hasta arg69, afectar\u00eda a la estructura de hoja beta del mip-1beta y podr\u00eda tener importantes consecuencias funcionales.
