Se ha demostrado que la ck2 presenta altos niveles de actividad en c\u00e9lulas de leucemia mieloide aguda (aml) y en c\u00e9lulas de la linea establecida de leucemia mieloide aguda hl60. Esta actividad disminuye en c\u00e9lulas hl60 paralelamente a la parada del ciclo celular y al proceso de diferenciaci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas, probablemente por el hecho de que \u00e9sta comporta la parada de la proliferaci\u00f3n.  en c\u00e9lulas con altos niveles de actividad ck2 se observan niveles altos de subunidades de la ezima y formas de ck2 alfa parcialmente proteolizadas \u00abin vivo\u00bb.
