Cerevisiae mediante interrupci\u00f3n g\u00e9nica se ha estudiado clonando los genes rpl 12a y rpl 12b. La interrupci\u00f3n de ambos genes no afecta la viabilidad celular, a\u00fan cuando disminuye la velocidad de crecimiento. Este efecto es revertido cuando se expresa la prote\u00edna l12 a trav\u00e9s de la transformaci\u00f3n con un pl\u00e1smido centrom\u00e9rico conteniendo una de las copias. En la cepa carente de l 12 su ausencia no afecta la cantidad de la prote\u00edna po unida al ribosoma, a\u00fan cuando inestabiliza su interacci\u00f3n al arnr del dominio gtpasa y disminuye la uni\u00f3n de las prote\u00ednas yp1 e yp2.
