Se delimita y caracteriza un elemento enhancer del gen proneural scute que dirige su expresi\u00f3n espec\u00edficamente en los precursores neurales. Se demuestra que este elemento enhancer es responsable, al menos parcialmente, de la mayor acumulaci\u00f3n de scute detectada en las c\u00e9lulas precursoras de los \u00f3rganos sensoriales y que es necesario, en ausencia de otros genes proneurales, para la formaci\u00f3n de los \u00f3rganos sensoriales. Este enhancer media un bucle de autoactivaci\u00f3n de scute en las c\u00e9lulas precursoras. Los genes neurog\u00e9nicos, implicados en mecanismos de inhibici\u00f3n lateral, impiden este bucle de autoactivaci\u00f3n.  finalmente, se propone un mecanismo molecular para la especificaci\u00f3n
