Uno de estos genes es nuevo y se requiere para el mantenimiento de la identidad dorsal de las c\u00e9lulas del ala. Este requerimiento es similar al del selector dorsal apterous.  se concluye que el nuevo lucus muesca codifica para un cofactor de apterous imprescindible para el control de la transcripci\u00f3n.  tambi\u00e9n se ha caracterizado un segundo locus; clipped, que est\u00e1 implicado en la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n en el borde del ala. Clipped es responsable de la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n desde las c\u00e9lulas ventrales a las dorsales para que el receptor notch se active. Esta funci\u00f3n de clipped es esencial para que se expresen ciertos genes en el borde del ala que controlan la proliferaci\u00f3n y la generaci\u00f3n del patr\u00f3n.  por \u00faltimo, se ha determinado que el selector dorsal apterous se expresa 24 h. Antes del establecimiento del borde de restricci\u00f3n clonal. Esto implica que el borde de restricci\u00f3n no est\u00e1 asociado al selector y a propiedades de reconocimiento celular.
