Cruz <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Rc3\/neurogranina es un gen que se expresa espec\u00edficamente en el cerebro de ratas adultas y codifica neurogranina, una prote\u00edna que une calmodulina y es sustrato de la prote\u00edna quinasa c (pkc). Se ha propuesto que neurogranina podr\u00eda estar implicada en procesos de memoria y de aprendizaje. Mediante el rastreo de una genoteca gen\u00f3mica humana, utilizando el cdna del gen rc3 como sonda, hemos aislado un c\u00f3smido que contiene la secuencia completa del gen humano nrgn, hom\u00f3logo al gen rc3 de rata. El gen nrgn est\u00e1 compuesto por 4 exones separados por 3 intrones. La secuencia deducida para la prote\u00edna codificada por nrgn contiene 78 amino\u00e1cidos y es muy similar a las secuencias de sus hom\u00f3logas en otras especies. El an\u00e1lisis de la regi\u00f3n anterior al primer ex\u00f3n de nrgn revel\u00f3 que este gen carece de cajas tata o caat, aunque posee una secuencia consenso para un elemento iniciador, as\u00ed como para otros elementos reguladores. Nrgn expresa un \u00fanico rna mensajero de 1.3 kb, que se detecta en cerebro adulto, mientras que est\u00e1 ausente en pulm\u00f3n, coraz\u00f3n, h\u00edgado, ri\u00f1\u00f3n, placenta, p\u00e1ncreas o m\u00fasculo esquel\u00e9tico. El gen nrgn se ha localizado en el cromosoma 11, en la banda q24, dentro de una regi\u00f3n que es sint\u00e9nica con el cromosoma 9 del rat\u00f3n.  la transcripci\u00f3n del gen rc3 est\u00e1 regulada por hormona tiroidea (t3), y presumiblemente de forma directa a trav\u00e9s de los receptores nucleares de t3. El an\u00e1lisis de la secuencia completa del gen nrgn nos permiti\u00f3 localizar un sitio de uni\u00f3n de los receptores de hormona tiroidea en el primer intr\u00f3n del mismo (t3re-nrgn). Este elemento contiene dos repeticiones imperfectas del hemisitio consenso aggtca separadas por un espaciador de 4 nucle\u00f3tidos (dr4), y une heterod\u00edmeros rxr\/t3r de forma estable.
