Estos puentes son usualmente m\u00e1s econ\u00f3micos y tienen ventajas de construcci\u00f3n frente a los puentes colgantes con tablero en forma de celos\u00eda. Desafortunadamente, la estabilidad frente al viento (flameo y divergencia torsional) de estos puentes es muy problem\u00e1tica cuando las luces se aproximan a 2000m. El objetivo final de esta investigaci\u00f3n es el an\u00e1lisis de algunas de las propuestas para mejorar el comportamiento frente a la inestabilidad aeroel\u00e1stica de los puentes colgantes de secci\u00f3n caj\u00f3n, tanto en su situaci\u00f3n final como en la situaci\u00f3n de construcci\u00f3n.  con este objetivo se ha desarrollado un programa de c\u00e1lculo para el an\u00e1lisis estructural de puentes colgantes, que puede tener en cuenta el proceso de construcci\u00f3n y el comportamiento estructural altamente no-lineal geom\u00e9trico (cap\u00edtulo 3). Este programa ha sido complementado (cap\u00edtulo 4) con un m\u00f3dulo para el an\u00e1lisis de la estabilidad aeroel\u00e1stica; la estabilidad se calcula mediante un an\u00e1lisis multimodal, de acuerdo con el marco de trabajo de scanlan. Con esta herramienta se ha estudiado la estabilidad aeroel\u00e1stica de 10 puentes colgantes existentes. Bas\u00e1ndose en estos an\u00e1lisis se han definido 6 puentes colgantes, con secci\u00f3n caj\u00f3n, con luces de 2000 a 5000 metros. Se ha confirmado que la estabilidad aeroel\u00e1stica de estos puentes es muy problem\u00e1tica, no s\u00f3lo en cuanto al flameo, sino tambi\u00e9n en cuanto a la divergencia torsional (cap\u00edtulo 5).  el uso de ap\u00e9ndices aerodin\u00e1micos (ragget, 1987) ha sido estudiado (cap\u00edtulo 6.2) como una de las posibles medidas para mejorar la estabilidad aeroel\u00e1stica. En concreto, se han efectuado an\u00e1lisis param\u00e9tricos con un modelo de 2 grados de libertad y se han comprobado los resultados mediante el an\u00e1lisis multimodal.
