En r. Solanacearum se ha comprobado que es necesaria una bios\u00edntesis correcta de lps de membrana externa para la resistencia a p\u00e9ptidos antimicrobianos.  los mutantes afectados en la bios\u00edntesis de lps resultan ser avirulentos en plantas de tabaco, posiblemente debido a la sensibilidad de estas cepas frente a compuestos t\u00f3xicos de la planta entre los que se encuentran los p\u00e9ptidos antimicrobianos. En e. Chrysanthemi se ha identificado un sistema de detoxificaci\u00f3n de p\u00e9ptidos antimicrob\u00edanos denominado sistema sap que est\u00e1 conservado en pat\u00f3genos de animales. Este sistema, capaz de discernir entre distintos tipos de p\u00e9ptidos juega un papel central, en la virulencia de esta bacteria. Los datos obtenidos tras la obtenci\u00f3n de una cepa mutada en este sistema apoyan el papel de los p\u00e9ptidos antimicrobianos como mecanismo de defensa de las
