Las ideas ilustradas y el modelo de la escuela de beaux arts de par\u00eds, fuerzan la necesidad de contar en espa\u00f1a con una ense\u00f1anza acad\u00e9mica; lo que dio origen a la academia de bellas artes de san fernando, y as\u00ed el cap\u00edtulo ii, recoge los planes de estudio y las etapas de la ense\u00f1anza del dibujo en esa instituci\u00f3n durante el siglo xviii. El cap\u00edtulo iii trata de los planes y vicisitudes de la escuela especial de arquitectura de Madrid, creada en 1844, tras el \u00abfracaso\u00bb institucional y docente de la academia. Por \u00faltimo el cap\u00edtulo iv recoge las distintas propuestas, planes aprobados y programas de asignaturas que requer\u00edan el dibujo como base para el conocimiento integral acad\u00e9mico y no como asignatura individual, destacando la \u00abhistoria y an\u00e1lisis de los monumentos antiguos y modernos\u00bb. Esta etapa comprende desde 1857 hasta finales de siglo.  completan la tesis una introducci\u00f3n, un cap\u00edtulo v de conclusiones finales y otro vi de
