Los resultados de este estudio, realizado en el modelo de pancreas de rata aislado y perfundido, sugieren las siguientes conclusiones:  la amilina bloquea la secrecion de insulina inducida por:  &#8211; secretagogos que activan el sistema adenilato ciclasa\/amp ciclico.  &#8211; sustancias que interfieren diferentes mecanismos ionicos requeridos para el proceso secretor de insulina.  &#8211; secretagogos que estimulan la secrecion de insulina a traves del sistema de fosfoinositoles.  el efecto inhibidor de la amilina puede ser revertido por ciertos antagonistas.
