Los contenidos de caroteno en d. Salina son proporcionales a la cantidad de irradiaci\u00f3n recibida a lo largo de su ciclo celular. La caracterizaci\u00f3n de la din\u00e1mica de cultivo y carotenog\u00e9nesis en este alga constituye una de las claves en la maximizaci\u00f3n de la producci\u00f3n a gran escala de b-caroteno.  en el presente trabajo se caracteriza el proceso de carotenog\u00e9nesis en d. Salina en funci\u00f3n de diferentes variables de cultivo, demostrando que la s\u00edntesis de b-caroteno tiene car\u00e1cter bif\u00e1sico y es directamente dependiente de la densidad celular y las fases de cultivo. As\u00ed mismo, se analiza y se caracteriza la plasticidad del proceso de carotenog\u00e9nesis en respuesta a las variaciones de la irradiaci\u00f3n y la disponibilidad de nutrientes. La carotenog\u00e9nesis constituye en d. Salina un mecanismo de fotoadaptaci\u00f3n sostenible en condiciones de estr\u00e9s y deficiencia de nitr\u00f3geno.  la relaci\u00f3n entre el proceso de carotenog\u00e9nesis y la variaci\u00f3n en la composici\u00f3n de \u00e1cidos grasos en d. Salina es algo a\u00fan escasamente estudiado. Nuestros resultados demuestran la existencia de una relaci\u00f3n directa entre la variaci\u00f3n en el perfil de \u00e1cidos grasos en d. Salina y el proceso de carotenog\u00e9nesis, demostrando adem\u00e1s que el \u00e1cido oleico constituye el principal \u00e1cido graso en la composici\u00f3n de gl\u00f3bulos de b-caroteno en d. Salina. Las microalgas del g\u00e9nero dunaliella, especialmente d.  salina, como as\u00ed se verifica en el presente estudio, constituyen un grupo de microorganismos adecuados para la producci\u00f3n a gran
