Uno de los atractivos de las redes neuronales artificiales, o simplemente redes neuronales (rns), radica en su habilidad para resolver problemas en los que aparecen dependencias temporales, llev\u00e1ndonos esto \u00faltimo a las llamadas redes neuronales recurrentes (rnrs). El objetivo principal de la tesis consiste en demostrar emp\u00edricamente la capacidad de estas rnrs para resolver tareas espec\u00edficas dentro del campo de la inferencia gramatical (ig), as\u00ed como para abordar problemas de traducci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica (ta) entre lenguajes y de un caso particular de \u00e9sta como es la comprensi\u00f3n del lenguaje (cl), siguiendo planteamientos adecuados.  las arquitecturas conexionistas han demostrado ser capaces, tanto de abordar tareas de ig como de captar las regularidades estad\u00edsticas impl\u00edcitas en los datos de entrada. Cabe pensar, por lo tanto, que las redes neuronales pudieran ser un medio adecuado para la inducci\u00f3n de gram\u00e1ticas regulares estoc\u00e1sticas (gres), planteamiento que se demuestra emp\u00edricamente en este trabajo.  por otro lado, en la tesis se propone un traductor sem\u00e1ntico conexionista sencillo que aborda tareas de cl en dominios restringidos a partir de ejemplos, que resuelve la componente temporal asociada tanto a la frase de entrada como al significado de salida de la misma y que aprende, adem\u00e1s, las caracter\u00edsticas sint\u00e1cticas y sem\u00e1nticas impl\u00edcitas en la tarea de comprensi\u00f3n.  finalmente, se plantea el dise\u00f1o de un traductor conexionista similar para abordar directamente traducciones texto-a-texto entre dos lenguajes naturales sin necesidad de tener que pasar por un lenguaje sem\u00e1ntico intermedio (interlingua), resolviendo adem\u00e1s de manera transparente la posible no secuencialidad existente entre los
