El dispositivo mz-eom es un modulador electro\u00f3ptico de intensidad con estructura interferom\u00e9trica de tipo mach-zehnder. Cuando el dispositivo mz-eom trabaja en r\u00e9gimen no lineal (puntos de polarizaci\u00f3n de m\u00ednima transmisi\u00f3n, de m\u00e1xima transmisi\u00f3n, o de cuadratura), es capaz de generar arm\u00f3nicos y productos de intermodulaci\u00f3n de la se\u00f1al moduladora, que permiten utilizarlo como mezclador arm\u00f3nico de se\u00f1ales el\u00e9ctricas en el dominio \u00f3ptico.  en la tesis tambi\u00e9n se contempla la integraci\u00f3n del dispositivo en el entorno de los sistemas radio fibra.  estos sistemas son sistemas h\u00edbridos entre sistemas convencionales de radocomunicaciones y sistemas de comunicaciones \u00f3pticas, que combinan elementos \u00f3pticos y electr\u00f3nicos para transmitir se\u00f1ales el\u00e9ctricas de alta frecuencia sobre fibra \u00f3ptica. La principal degradaci\u00f3n que sufren estos sistemas se conoce como el \u00ab\u00bbefecto de supresi\u00f3n demostrado que utilizando dispositivos mz-eom se puede reducir, e incluso en algunos casos eliminar, esta degradaci\u00f3n de los sistemas radio sobre fibra. La mayor\u00eda de los conceptos te\u00f3ricos presentados se respaldan con resultados experimentales. El trabajo realizado en la tesis ha dado lugar a 3 publicaciones en revista internacional, 2 publicaciones en congreso internacional, y otras publicaciones internales que se encuentran actualmente en
