Es la primera vez que se describe tal mecanismo de expresion genica en un virus con adn, hasta ahora solo se habia encontrado en virus con arn.  ademas, se ha encontrado una secuencia consenso llamada gly-gly-x para la maduracion de proteinas. Tambien se ha desarrollado un ensayo de actividad para la proteinasa implicada en el procesamiento proteolitico de las poliproteinas del virus de la peste porcina africana, que permitira su
